No man’s land, Ukraine

Near the end of February, 2015 a ceasefire was reached between the Ukrainian military and pro-Russian rebels ending over a year of sporadic fighting that killed more than 5,000 people. The conflict saw the Russian supported rebels successfully conquer significant portions of Eastern Ukraine while Ukraine and it’s western allies failed to find a long-term solution to hold the rebels at bay. This body of work explores the lives of civilians and soldiers in the weeks after the ceasefire was declared and the uneasy truce that they are currently enduring: they exist in a no man’s land - it is not a time of war, nor is it a time of peace.
