Martha & Martha

At 31 years old, Martha Cosgalla was juggling a lot. She had a full time job, two daughters in school, a husband looking for work and her mother, Martha Romo, who was just 56 years old and in the midst of daily dialysis treatments. Romo was born with only one kidney which was beginning to fail and was now in desperate need of a kidney transplant. For Cosgalla, there was no question: she would donate one of her kidneys to her mother.
